1961 Chaparral Model 001
The original Jim Hall racer. This car is number 001 and is, unfortunately, the only Chaparral not in the collection of Hall. Number 001 raced from 1961 to 1963 carrying a modified 327 Chevy powerplant in it's nose and was constructed by Troutman & Barnes coachbuilders. In 14 races, 001 recorded 2 wins and a fastest race lap. Future Chaparrals were some of the most innovative racing machines of their time. Including the insane-looking, but mind-boggling, Chaparral 2J "sucker" car of 1970 which sucked itself to the racing surface for incredible roadholding.
