The 1953 Plus 4 has independent front suspension and an in-line four cylinder engine ranging in size from 1,991 to 2,138cc. The name Plus 4 came from the chassis being streched by four inches over the previous 4/4 models to incorporate larger engines, like the 68bhp Vangaurd motor.
