Al Unser, Jr. and Michael Andretti

Emerson Fittipaldi won

CART events in 1988, 1992 and 1993 at Mid-Ohio.

Alex Zanardi

Teo Fabi and Bobby Rahal

1998 looked to be the best chance yet of Mid-Ohio having its first three-time winner with consequtive victories. But, 1996 and 1997 Mid-Ohio winner, Alex Zanardi, was never in contention and, quite frankly, looked like he was driving in a demolition derby. The only three-time winner, though not in consequtive years, is the great Emerson Fittipaldi. Having won his first CART event at Mid-Ohio in 1988 he won again in consequtive years in 1992 and 1993. The consequtive wins were the start of a four year domination by Team Penske as Al Unser, Jr. won in 1994 and 1995.

Other two-time consequtive winners are Alex Zanardi in 1996 and 1997, Michael Andretti in 1990 and 1991, and the first driver to win back-to-back CART races at Mid-Ohio - Bobby Rahal in 1985 and 1986. Teo Fabi has won two CART races at Mid-Ohio, though not back-to-back, in 1983 and 1989.

Can you name the four CART drivers who have won once at Mid-Ohio? They are Adrian Fernandez in 1998, Roberto Guerrero in 1987, Mario Andretti in 1984, and the first CART winner at Mid-Ohio was Johnny Rutherford in 1980. There were not CART races at the track in 1981 or 1982.
