As the founder of Morris Garages, William Morris (1871-1963)
hired Cecil Kimber (1888-1945) as Sales Manager for the company in 1921.
The world famous MG marque was founded in late 1924 as Kimber had been building
special-body Morris automobiles.
The MG Car Company was formed in 1928. The legendary Abingdon
factory opened in 1929 and didn't close its doors until 1980. Morris went
on to become a famous philanthropist and became known as Lord Nuffield in
1934. William Morris took control of the company in 1935 and Kimber left
the firm in 1941. |
