The second Joest Porsche belonged to ace Bob Wollek, seen here waiting to qualify along with the Momo Nissan of Gianpiero Moretti.

The inagural, and only, IMSA Grand Prix of Atlanta at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 1993, was won by the steady Juan Manuel Fangio II in car 99. Driving one of two Dan Gurney All-American Racers Toyota Eagle Mk IIIs, Juan battled, literally, bumping into teammate PJ Jones on the infield portion of the circuit and being run onto the grass, for the win.

Gianpiero Moretti traded in his Porsche 962 at the end of 1992 and bought a used Nissan NPT-91 to race in 1993. Despite the upgrade in equipment, the Momo Team battled for third with a pair of quick Joest Porsche 962s (driven by Bob Wollek and Manuel Rueter), and the Chevy Intrepid of Wayne Taylor.

You may recall that 1993 was the first year of the World Sports Car® and the last year of IMSA GTP.
