Lagonda automobiles was founded in 1906 by American Wilbur Gunn. That shouldn’t be difficult to accept, America already had the elegance of “The Standard of the World” in Cadillac (1903), Packard (1899), Pierce-Arrow (1901), and Auburn (1900). Lagonda didn’t produce their first serious four-wheeled automobiles until 1926 with the 14/60 model. Lagoda’s original engine was a straight-4 with overhead valves, twin camshafts and magneto ignition. Though Lagonda’s were on the heavy side, their sporting saloons still managed respectable speeds.
